Experience the joy of singing!
Music is a vital part of worship at the First Congregational Church of North Adams. Our program involves adults and children, music readers and music listeners, young and old. First Congregational Church of North Adams celebrates music as a glorious gift of God. We welcome all singers, players, listeners, and lovers of music. The choir at First Congregational Church of North Adams is open to anyone who wants to sing! In addition to having a fun time, being in the choir is a great opportunity to nourish your soul and become a better musician. We sing a variety of music, some easy and some difficult.Whether you’ve been in choir for years or haven’t had any musical training, we would love to work with you. No matter what your abilities are, we want you to be able to experience the joy of singing at First Congregational Church of North Adams. Music Director is Michael Daunis. Michael also heads up the North County Chorale Group who presents the North County Christmas Worship Concert in December each year and many times an additional concert in May. There is an upcoming "Concert of Gospel Songs and Spirituals" on May 17th at 4 pm in the church sanctuary. This is an ecumenical choir and all are invited to join this group for one or both concerts. You can contact Michael at the church main phone number of 663-9940. We will take a message and make sure it gets to him.
The adult choir sings at the 10:00 service and all special services from September to June. Rehearsals are held during these months on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 PM. During the winter months, rehearsals are held in the Upper Parlor. All singers are volunteers. Anyone with an interest in singing is welcome to join us.
The children's choir rehearses after our Sunday morning services end. We usually rehearse for about 20 minutes while the adults enjoy Coffee Hour. The children sing at two services a month. Children ages 4-12 are welcome to sing.
On the third Sunday of every month, we celebrate a jazz worship service. This contemporary-style service offers a new approach to traditional worship. Local musicians are brought in to participate and our traditional customs are relaxed. Come and join us for this swinging service! (currently on hold, Nov. 2014) hope to restart
