Freedom of conscience
The United Church of Christ embraces a theological heritage that affirms the Bible as the authoritative witness to the Word of God, the creeds of the ecumenical councils, and the confessions of the Reformation. The UCC has roots in the "covenantal" tradition—meaning there is no centralized authority or hierarchy that can impose any doctrine or form of worship on its members. Christ alone is Head of the church. We seek a balance between freedom of conscience and accountability to the apostolic faith. The UCC therefore receives the historic creeds and confessions of our ancestors as testimonies, but not tests of the faith. Linked on the right of this page are some of those testimonies.
Regular worship begins at 10:00 with the organ prelude and the lighting of candles. Our services end between 11:00 and 11:15. There is a time with the Young and Young at Heart during the worship after which the children are dismissed to attend Sunday School.
Current church leaders are Reverend Carolyn Peck as Pastor, Michael Daunis as Music Director. Margaret Whitney is the Moderator and other members of the Church Council are Anne Urban, Joelle Collins, Sarah Farnsworth, and Julie Filkins.
We extend a cordial welcome to all who chose to worship with us. We welcome all to our church no matter where or how they are taking their life journey.
On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. All are invited to the table, including children. Communion is taken through intinction, where the bread is dipped in wine or grape juice, (two chalices are offered to provide the choice.)
We have a small but VERY dedicated group of ladies that form our Women's Fellowship. They are busy most of the year (they take a rest during the summer months) If you are someone who is looking for a spiratually lead group who meets monthly for prayer and meditation but also for informal fellowship, support and fun this is the group for you!! They are busy all year preparing for their Fall Bazaar, Plant Sale, Silent Bake Auction and many more events that raise money for the church. They have also just begun a monthly luncheon which takes place on a Sunday after church services . The church office can get you in touch with someone from the fellowship.
We celebrate several special services during the church year. These include our Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter services.
